NEWS ABOUT THE TRUST

A meeting of the Aquila Music Trust was held on Friday 27th July 2007.  Members talked about:

  • the progress of CD sales of "Open the Door' and  "May the Lord Bless You"
  • the success of the Fareham Parish Concert
  • future live performances
  • plans for the 2008 "Watch the Sunrise" CD
  • applications for the Friends of John Glynn

Aquila is the Latin name for "eagle" and Father John chose the name, because of a number of coincidences.

  • John's family origins are mostly in Ireland but he did find evidence in North Wales of a Glynn family with coat of arms sporting a spread eagle.
  • His family home was in Eagle Lane
  • John's father is a retired employee of Barclays Bank whose emblem is also a spread eagle.  After he retired, Mr. Glynn built a small boat which he named "Aquila"
  • The Trust banks with Barclays and the account is held in their premises, called  "Aquila House".
  • John's patron saint is Saint John the Evangelist, whose symbol is also the eagle.
